Replace 'username' with the desired user account name and replace 'newpassword' with your desired password. For example: net user 'Vishal Gupta' 12345. Here 'Vishal Gupta' is the user account name and 12345 is the new password. It'll immediately change the user account password. Thanks to our reader 'rkk djb' for sharing this.

I updated to Mavericks last night - from Snow Leopard - on my Early-2008 MBP... Since then, every time I try to move a file into or out of the hard drive, I'm given the message 'Modifying HD requires an administrator name and password.' I can either authenticate, enter my password, and move the file, or cancel and not do anything.
